How do I get started with services?

  1. Fill out the Contact Me form or send an email to varner.alicia@gmail.com with the best way to reach you. We can then discuss scheduling and if Access if a good fit or you or your family.

What do services look like, what can I expect?

  • Currently, Access Speech and Language offers virtual consultations or ‘Telepractice'.

  • Sessions are geared toward you and your family’s goals. Treatment does not follow the traditional model of meeting directly with a child one or more times a week. Sessions are with parents/legal guardians/family members and focus on providing information related to your child’s needs, family support, and implementation of strategies at home and/or school.

  • Frequency of sessions is decided together and highly dependent on how often you want to meet and what works for you and your family. Frequency of sessions can range from meeting just one time, to monthly check-ins, or having several shorter sessions in a ‘burst’ or short period time.

  • If you are an adult AAC user or are interested in AAC for yourself, please reach out as well! You can let me know in the contact form how you currently communicate and what supports work best for you. You may request a session with a familiar communication partner if that makes you more comfortable.

  • Professional consultations with schools or other providers are available in relation to students with complex communication needs.

Do you take insurance?

  • At this time Access Speech and Language Services does not file insurance and is private pay only. This is due to the consultative and collaborative service model. Consultations are scheduled at your convenience and offer more flexibility.

Are AAC devices covered by insurance?

  • If your child needs a formal AAC evaluation in order to obtain a dedicated communication device either partly or fully covered by insurance, please reach out for further information. I can make recommendations on where to go (depending on your location) or in some limited instances may be able to make a house visit to complete the evaluation and then work with you and a device company to file a report for possible insurance coverage of a device. Amount of coverage is based on your current insurance plan and your child’s individual needs.

What are your service fees? How do you bill for services?

  • Most consultations are 30-60 minutes in length and range from $70-$130.00.

  • Short 15 minutes check-ins, home-visits, formal AAC evaluations, and professional consultations with school providers/staff are possible with limited availability. Reach out to discuss possible services and pricing in more detail.

  • Billing: Clients will be charged through Simple Practice on the day of service. Payment is collected at the time services are rendered.

  • Payment methods accepted include credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). Clients may also pay via Link to a Stripe account for a wider variety of payment options if needed.

  • Consultation bundles are available. Purchase through this website and then schedule an appointment (you will not be charged any additional fees for what is included in the bundle).
